    The award-winning city magazine Indianapolis Monthly is seeking an editor for its special advertising sections. The ideal candidate for the position will demonstrate editorial acumen, a solid work ethic, multitasking skills and enthusiasm for the magazine business.


    Generating section/story ideas based on readers’ and the sales department’s needs; assigning stories to a stable of writers; editing for content and copy; fact-checking and writing section stories; researching local resources for sections; writing short articles for specific advertising projects; assisting in interviewing and tutoring editorial interns; participating in story idea meetings; and assisting the art director in creating attractive sections—all with an eye to meeting deadlines and serving the magazine’s readers.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    Successful candidates will have: one or more years of magazine experience; a keen attention to detail; the ability to balance multiple and frequent demands by varying superiors and audiences; strong writing and reporting skills; self-confidence and personality; and the willingness to embrace new opportunities when they arise.
