Emmis Austin Radio is a branch of Emmis Communications with a cluster of seven radio stations in north Austin including: KLBJ-AM (590), KLBJ-FM (93.7), KGSR (93.3), KROX (101.5), KBPA (103.5), KLZT (107.1), and Latino 102.7.

 

Emmis Austin Radio is seeking a full-time KLBJ-AM Producer to work weekdays, primarily 12pm-8pm. The successful candidate will be highly reliable, self-motivated, trustworthy and passionate about radio. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possesses loads of initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the control board for studio and remote programming.
  • Posting news copy to the station website.
  • Follow and enforces FCC regulations, station and company polices, including implementing station’s/state’s EAS procedures.
  • Regulates timing of programs, operates syndicated programming and plays commercials.
  • Adds content to the station Social Media accounts.
  • Produces podcasts.
  • Supports off-air commercial production and the creation of station imaging.
  • Monitors and updates weather, traffic, and news reports into automation equipment.
  • Performs on-air announcements or shifts as assigned.
  • Anchor newscasts as needed.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

 

 

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Ability to work Monday – Friday, primarily 12pm-8pm.
  • One year of broadcast experience required.
  • One year of experience operating radio control boards required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree, Associate’s Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Proficient with audio editing software.
  • Highly organized, meets deadlines, able to multi-task, and performs well under pressure.
  • Must interact effectively with listeners who call the station’s talk shows.
  • Must have a passion for news and current events.
  • Works well with all fellow team members.
  • Takes great pride in producing high quality radio.
  • Eagerly volunteers to handle tasks outside of the normal job duties when necessary.
  • Valid driver’s license and state mandated automobile insurance required.
