Job Overview

Emmis Indianapolis Radio is seeking an ambitious Director of Integrated Technologies who is passionate about what we do in local radio, on-air and online. We are looking for a dynamic technology leader who knows how to win every day. This position is for the radio guru who loves all technology, production techniques and wants to be an innovator.

 

The Director of Integrated Technologies should have a strong track record of strategic planning and program leadership in broadcast or streaming entertainment, with outstanding management, business, and communication skills. Our ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in station programming in a large or major radio market.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure all aspects of department administration is addressed in a timely manner, to include, but not limited to, building maintenance coordination, security coordination, code compliance management (fire suppression, ADA, elevators, escalators, etc.), invoice coding and approval, manage video surveillance as needed.      
  • Implement, oversee, and drive all major projects assigned to the department to meet required deadlines.
  • Oversees and assigns the daily work activities of the staff. Responsible for scheduling the team and maintaining on-call list
  • Directs testing and maintenance of studio, remote, and broadcasting equipment to ensure operational performance meets industry standard, rules, and regulations of the FCC.
  • Develop strategic plan for engineering and information technology and integration to the broadcast environment
  • Develop and update technology and new media on an ongoing basis to meet business needs
  • Evaluate the stations needs for broadcast equipment and makes recommendations for improvement in technical performance of station equipment.
  • Prepare maintenance and repair schedules for studio, remote, and transmitter site broadcasting equipment to improve reliability of broadcasts
  • Maintain a positive work environment through active team participation and a good attitude focused on quality customer service
  • Effectively communicate with other department heads to plan, prioritize, and ensure efficient operations of the radio stations.
  • Maintain knowledge and stay current on technological advances including computer software and hardware with a focus on Microsoft Windows server, Media and Entertainment Technologies, Radio Broadcasting and workstation products
  • Enforce corporate computing policy and procedure for both Indy Radio end users and external vendors
  • Implement preventive maintenance program for transmitters, studio, computer systems and develop operational best practices
  • Recommend and manage annual operational and capital budget for station(s) department and control expenditures within budget limitations.
  • Ensure the regulatory compliance of SOX IT
  • Available to work various hours and days including some weekends and holidays. On-call status 24/7 in case of equipment failure
  • Oversees and directs activities of Engineering and IT staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Other duties as directed

Desired Skills & Experience

Successful candidates will possess the following skills/abilities:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school;
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years computer experience, broadcast experience, and transmitter maintenance preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of FCC regulations and license requirements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools like Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience analyzing data to draw business insight
  • Experience developing and executing strategies based on budget needs
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of digital transmission equipment.
  • Experience with software including PD Advantage Web, PPM Analysis tools and Tapscan
  • In-depth knowledge of MusicMaster software, Wide Orbit software, and running an audio control board
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent multi-tasker
  • Ability to think on your feet, with exceptional problem-solving abilities
  • Team oriented, helpful, professional, focused and positive
  • Experience with radio station playout technologies
  • Enjoy working with new technologies in fast paced environment; ability to work long hours
  • Positive attitude focused on quality engineering and IT strategies for the Indianapolis market
