Emmis Indianapolis Radio is seeking an ambitious General Sales Manager to lead and develop a team of marketing professionals to achieve incremental revenue growth across our broad platform of assets including spot radio, digital and event marketing.

Desired Skills & Experience

The General Sales Manager has four Primary Responsibilities:

 

  1. Lead, Develop and Motivate a team of marketing professionals
  2. Grow revenue and manage inventory
  3. Work with the sales and programming departments to develop creative marketing solutions
  4. Collaborate with sales management team in a focused effort across a cluster of radio stations to gain market share

Specific Job Responsibilities include:

  • Coach and assist sellers in managing their portfolio of accounts to identify opportunities for growth and minimize attrition with:
    • new business target account development
    • key account growth and planning
    • results based client solutions utilizing a broad array of event, digital and cause marketing ideas
  • Works with Director of Sales to determine pricing strategies to optimize yield and manage expenses
  • Work with local staff to build and nurture strong client relationships
  • Partner with Programming and Promotions to develop business ideas that strengthen our brand image and offer new revenue opportunities
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable (AR) across the station
  • Update and create sales materials (packages, positioning/research pieces, etc.)
  • Assist sales management team with talent recruitment and sales staff training
  • Plan and lead sales meetings
  • Annual budget planning
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years sales management experience preferred
  • A proven track record of success in the radio sales industry in exceeding goals
  • Digital and Event Marketing sales experience
  • Exposure to Customer Focused Selling preferred
  • Experience with both agency and local direct/retail clients.
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
